6 couples joined Graham and Janine in sunny Northern France over the bank holiday weekend.
Playing Wimereux, St Omer * 2 , then for those that could, sneak another round in at Wimereux on Tuesday. We had enough wind on Saturday to make Wimeruex interesting – Course was in good nick, and the food was excellent. Brian won the day, then onto the hotel for much eating and drinking.
The food was generally good, with some notable exceptions , but the staff were overwhelmed by the number of people, and with no one senior enough around to take charge, the service was not acceptable. They were apologetic, and accepted the feedback, (delivered in a more measured tone on the Monday morning, than on the drunken Sunday evening)
But onto the golf – St Omer, Great course in great condition, challenging fast greens that were hard to read, set in fantastic scenery with good use of the steep valley, good practice facilities, and the terrace is a great place for a beer when the sun is out.
The results for the six couples that played at St Omer are below – (Phil & Jane had to slip away)
Two Day Singles – The Birthday Boy & Tracey took the money,
Two day Mixed Pairs – Tracey & I managed to avoid domestics to secure the win
|Sean & Tracey||86||126|
|Graham & Janine||79||117|
|Brain & Pam||76||114|
|Prit & Indra||76||109|
|Carol & Martin||64||95|
|Denzil & Teresa||63||98|
Interestingly, for me anyway, Tracey and I did our two day individual eclectics and got 43 and 42 points respectively. So although we both averaged 31.5 points a day it shows that you can score well on most of the holes, but one mistake, bad decision or just bad luck can easily lead to a blob. Wants to make you want to go make and see if you can play well on all of the holes!!
Thanks to Janine for organising it – Perhaps the chaps should consider it for an away weekend…
