Captain Sean:

So you may have heard , we won, and by a pretty safe margin – Well done to every one & thanks for your support.

Have a look at the score sheet below – You will notice we did not even have enough 1 pointers to give away in the 12 best of 15!!

I think what this shows is the Swashbucklers absolute dominance of Stableford over the over swindles – I suspect this is due to the way we run our swindle handicaps (and of course how we choose our team)

Here is to sunshine golf!

Phil Macve:

Well done to all, and in particular Sean, whose methods have completely turned our swindle around, he’s done the same at club level too. As Lee said, there is no doubt our swindle is the best by far, you only had to listen to Stu Mass in the bar yesterday, whose praise for our swindle was never ending, I felt for him actually because he had worked so hard himself and felt so passionately about his swindle winning. He could not say enough about our lot and it’s further proof that opening our doors and inviting new members at the rate we have was 100% right, always assuming they pass the ‘not a complete toss pot test’.

Well done to all, I am determined to make this year’s team.

Phil sums it all up.  Think we all agree that special thanks must go to Sean for his captaincy, patience… and spreadsheets.  We proved to be a well-oiled and slick machine which I’m sure the other Swindles either cursed at, swore at… but I’m sure underneath it all, admired!  Phil did a cracking job with the cards for each round, and on top of the dresscode and beanies setting us apart it was only our Swindle table which was heaving with cakes and chocolates at the start of each round.

Best results on the day were led by the Stableford scoring “robots” that are Jim and Lee.  Jim knocking his final pitch to inches whilst Lee had enough lead to casually put his 3W into the water on the 18th. Max did his usual “I’m waiting for an audience” for a spectacular long iron from the far rough over the water to the 18th.

Final mention goes to Denzil who had the best “I used to play for Arsenal” expression during the team photo

And I think all the Swashbucklers would like to take this period of back-slapping to thank Hew for creating and maintaining an awesome website. Another example of why our swindle is great. Well done Hew 🙂

Yup, thanks for that. Once setup the site doesn’t take a lot to maintain. If anyone wants to post info/content/images, drop me an email.

On other news, look out for an email from Simon Bailey who might soon be putting in an order for Swashbucklers shirts… apparently Simon got a deal on last ones, the black Nike dri-fit ones with an embroidered Swashbucklers logo on them.

Well done to all the Swashbuckler golfers for retaining the Interswindle Ryder Cup, thanks to Captain Sean for his work on and off the field, which has seen the general play of our swindle improve year on year, just look at the order of merit placing.

We all wish Lee & Simon the best of luck in the london marathon, as Swashbucklers they will have a great day, because there up for the challenge.

Thanks to Phil for the (now) traditional interswindle Ryder cup finals score card,’ Surrey National’ take note of the details & design.

Finally thanks to Graham for the weekly tee times that encourages our play, Bob for the fortnightly results, backed up by Hews great web site that places our swindle news along side the Master victory review, how cool is that?

Barry after all that it’s still your swindle.

I would like to echo everyone’s comments also.
The effort you all put into the swindle is amazing and the envy of all the other swindles.
Also thank you for inviting Al and myself into the swindle, well, almost a year ago now, sure i can speak for him when i say how we both really enjoy playing with you guys each week and representing the swindle in the ryder cup.
I hope to continue to use as many shots as my handicap will allow me over the coming year to help retain it again!
(hopefully that number will not be as high as it currently is).

And finally, look forward to seeing all of you who will be at the Captains ball in a few weeks time for a good beer/dance (hopefully more beer less dance) and celebrating Mr. Loveless’s start as reign as Surrey National Captain.
