Wayne, innit
With the deluge of rain and strong gusting winds facing most of the country on Friday (and the preceeding XXX weeks!), even getting to the course was painful on Saturday. Trees were down seemingly on every road I took to get there… not helped by overdoing the beers with Mr Strong the night before…
Saturday’s Stableford saw a much reduced field and was obviously s8dden underfoot and with the usual recent swimming pools for bunkers. Wayne came in with a solid 35 points for the win. Congrats.
The weather wasnt too unkind. We did have a very heavy hail storm and rain towards the back of the round for the Swindle but on reflection we didn’t get too battered. Same cannot be said about Lee and Al G who were out that evening to celebrate Big Al’s birthday. Sean I believe took the Swindle monies. Mr Hinkson managed a very entertaining slip we heard, and my bag was pushed over by a gust and tumbled down into the full-of-water bunker on the first. Not nice.
Weather was fantastic on Sunday. Though a Swashbuckler wasn’t in the top 3 in the stableford, we did have 8 in the top 13 with Phil taking the fivers with 39points, with an added bonus of taking another fiver from a confident Mr Wheddon. Tom Austin took the overall win with a very, very impressive 42points off of 5.
Still very wet on Sunday and more comedy slips, Bob (Axten) got “snipered” walking to the 7th green, falling over strangely on the flat part in front of the green not the hill.
Good stuff. Roll on better weather next week (*hopes*), rescheduled Ryder Cup to enjoy.
Ping Fitting Day
Club has just emailed about a Ping fitting day first 1 . The lovely i25 range is available, as lauded by Mark Crossfield on YouTube… as well as the very spiffy S55 wielded by Mr L Feasey.
