After escaping the worst of the late Autumn into Winter weather in recent weeks, the Turkey Trot rolled round again at the weekend and bought the rain and drizzle with it.
The day started early without much rain as teams headed out to their tee’s for the shotgun start. Our team, TeamWinkle (aka “Jim’s Caddies”) were not on fire except for Dean’s putting and Jim’s drives, but we had a great game despite the rain as most teams did it seems. Team Austin/Newton/Hance took the overall with a cracking score on the day of 59.2.
Warm applause greeted Gavin Nebbeling, who’s hole in one secured the nearest the pin on the 7th and removed several notes from his wallet.
Mr “CC” Loveless and Browen dished out the awards and the prize giving saw Swashbucklers take a bundle led by Daisy (insert lots of awards here), Janine, Phil and of course Wayne and Jaggsy taking individual majors. Sean picked up the Ryder Cup award, and, as I was sat in amongst them, to much mumbling from the Early Birds who clearly fancy their chances this year.
Jackson was tasked to take his family’s awards home, he needed more arms to carry them tho. Stuart did his best to lighten the load by dropping a cup. These picks and more on the image page.
Let’s hope next year we have one of our own feature in the Order of Merit, more majors and fingers crossed for some Ryder Cup glory too.
The Swashbucklers must surely have won the drinking (again), as it seems they were settling in for the duration as I headed off late afternoon… the rest of the club having cleared off in good time. Only ever one winner on that front.
