A sharp late Autumn day today. Bright and fresh with some respectable frost on the ground, we all headed out for a shotgun start for the annual turkey trot. Its a great event, a texas scramble and though never a quick round, it seemed to go ok pace wise. (well, it has been worse in recent years!).

Trophies for the prize giving
We had a great turnout with a few tee’s having double teams.
3 of our team got in the spirit with Christmas jumpers, despite a distinct lack everywhere else. Humbug Winkle was the odd one out but with Mark, Ritchie, Jaggsy and myself as defending champions for the competition our expectations were high.
Well, they remained high till the first green where we missed the 12footer for birdie, par’d the 2nd and bogeyed the 3rd. Hmmm, certainly wasn’t to be our day. Lots of par’s, just 3 birdies and two bogeys and we were well out of it. We did however have a bundle of sandwiches, cakes and eats on our way round. We weren’t last, but came close. Congrats to TeamMacve for winning the Swindle fivers on the card.
Very healthy clubhouse enjoyed the dinner and drinks after the round. Lee Histed’s team won the day, 10under gross before handicap. Well done to them all.
We all piled in for lasagne and the prize giving. Winkle and Dom did a great job nipping through the many prizes we had and Bubba Hance won Bronwen’s cake which raised over £200 for the Captain’s Charity.
Bo was reluctant to be in the photo but about 0.1 seconds later she was front and centre. Framed (unfortunately) by her two brusing playing partners on the day Wayne and Ben.
Bob was a multiple winner this year, the ladies had a good spread of prizes amongst them – well done all all winners. A good year’s golf.
Both rooms full with hungry golfers.
‘Anticipation’ building for the prizes.

Rainbow Winner 2017
And finally
Let us not forget the Swashbucklers ‘Rainbow’ Champion 2017, Matt Strong.
Matt did not receive a shiny trophy but did decide to accept a cold coffee cup instead (before he quickly put it down and headed home).
I’ll post a list of the 2017 winners tomorrow
