The Snashers take honours at Seaford Head

Another great day was had at Seaford Head yesterday in our annual trip to their mixed open. Sixteen of us went this year, first time since the new clubhouse was finished. The weather was glorious, a proper English day out at the seaside.

Never get tired of this view from the 18th

Some great golf was played, particularly by The Snashers. I did say before play commenced that they were odds on favourites in my book, I’d have had my house on them. Great score too from the ‘Carol & Graham’ super team. Caroline and myself did well, we had 36 points and it was Caroline’s first trip there so I was pleased with that score (I’m sure Caroline was too!) and we had a great day with Jerry and Margaret, thank you for the company, it was dry and droll, the humour that is..

Good food and service afterwards too and all for £20, shall we all move down there?

So, runners up were Carol and Graham L with 38 pts, winners by a country mile (in foursomes) Lee and Sharon with 42, which I think included a couple of blobs, good job they weren’t on form eh?

Hew came and played with Sarah which was very gallant of him, they missed out on the Foursomes because we were a pair short, but that didn’t spoil their day though and they got to play a full round, Hew very casually knocking it round in level par, another golfer totally suited to the course and no surprise to me he had 42 points, him and Sarah would have given The Snashers a run.

What a pain the journey home was though, nice that it was a beautiful evening.

I had a long chat with the Captain and the club is slowly getting back to normal after the completion of the new clubhouse, the trophy still seems to be missing sadly, he did show me the store room full of boxes so it may be in there. He said that if he had known us lot were coming he would have been there at the start and made a bit more of the welcoming and done a first tee stint, so I’ll let them know next year. I think everyone is keen to have another day down there this year so I’ll put the word around and see what we can do.

Another great day out for the ‘Surrey Mafia’

I do not know what Jezza was doing with his bag on the first tee, I assume looking for a lighter!

Also worth noting that for the prize giving we even had the Mayor of Seaford present!
