Handing your card in on arrival
Jezza requested a change to the handing in of tenners…. all seemed to agree. So:
- When turning up (on time!), please get a card, write your name on it yourself
- Mark it with what you’ve paid (ie, “Hew £10”)
- Hand it into the pile with your tenner
- Buy me a tea
Over the weekend, people (Jezza!) did a sterling job taking cards and monies with twenty odd people there, but its not fair on them.
One person can manage the collection of cards and money (making sure we have the right amount), but by writing our own cards they are not burdened with cash flying in and out under their nose, then writing names on countless cards, checking off names and all that malarky.
It’s not a perfect system, but lets make it easier for the organiser to just manage cards and pulling names.
Should incomplete rounds go into the scores
Much to the amusement of the clubhouse, the banter was loud and healthy on Saturday when discussing a ruling over whether people leaving before they finish the round should have their score counted on the SS. Its an old ‘friend’ that issue. This isnt finger-pointing, so noone get defensive if they’ve left recently, we’re just limping towards some clarification.
Lots of what-ifs, pros/cons… are you playing badly and have hit the wall, are you unwell, do you have an appointment to get to? Do you get shots back, do you get your tenner back… I’m not going into it now, but at some point we could consider a AGM to raise such issues.
At the end of the day, it won’t be prefect (nothing is when humans are involved, or our Swindle!) but some clarity would be good soon. I would suggest a ‘steering group’ or Swindle Committee of say 4 Swindlers to set a rule and let everyone else grumble about it.
Watch this space… perhaps?
(coming soon, post about the weekend swindles)
