First round of Ryder Cup matches started this weekend in the wind and rain on Saturday at soggy Surrey National.
Fixture came out of the blue for us, apparently an email had been sent in September but was news to us so a fresh and soon-to-be-frazzled team Captain Scottie Yule pulled a team together this week to face the Pistol Knights.
Scottie’s match report…
We lost. The end.
That was it 🙂
We were turned over 15-1 down. Ouch. Yes, biggest Ryder Cup win I think, and to the defending champs as well.
Two things I’d add. Firstly a heap of matches seemed to come down to the last couple of holes. Obvious to say, but on another day it could’ve quite a different scoreline even if only a few of those matches turned our way on the 17th or 18th holes. And it is still early days in the comp and whilst we’re back to 5 teams aiming for 4 places in finals day, plenty of time to turn in a few scores in our favour.
In the other match, Early Birds were up against the MOB and came in winners 11-5.
