Saturday Swindle had about 9 in it with a few pairs matches being played. James Murtagh won the Swindle (who I luckily missed out in playing our knockout game against… phew!). Well done Mr M.
As for the matches, Phil and I lost 4&3 in our early morning Westerham game to a determined local pair. Good game and nice chaps both. Jezza and Winkle missed out in their match at the club to the mighty Carters, and Simon and Strongbow were pipped on the 17th I believe in theirs.
Shot of the day was from Mr Bone who marked a welcome 5 on his card. Deciding to sky a tee shot off the eighth on Saturday our Boney pulled a rescue wood out of the bag and applied himself to the task in hand. After much searching around the green, to the point that I think it was “agreed” it must have gone into a waterlogged bunker *cough* free drop *cough*, Sean checked the hole and there it was. Congratulations on the 5points (14 front 9 was it Baz?)
Organised by a slightly wounded Matt Strong (re: bike tumble earlier in week), a bunch of Swashbucklers headed out to Croydon for festive beers.
Happy Birthday Grubbster
In fine form, the Swindle pub crawl happened to also fall on Chris’ birthday who kindly stood a round for everyone and then proceeded to entertain us all by carving up the dancefloor. I hope his dance partner has recovered. Al Gollop did his thing and the Yeti enjoyed being barred from the late bar after the bouncer perceived a wee stumble as having too much. I mean, what’s in stumble? An emotional Scottie Yule loved everyone (as you do), the bar was drank dry of Skittle shots (?), Al Savs won gold for hiccuping and Winkle unleashed those dancing feet to somewhat great effect.
A lot of sore heads the next day for Turkey Trot…
