In some awesome weather for October, the weekend monthly Stableford’s saw Swashbucklers sneak the honours on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday I managed to pip Mr Feasey by the narrowest of margins. Phil wouldn’t be happy unless I highlighted that 3 out of the top4 were right-siders as Stuart Massey came in 4th after James Liu to add to myself and Lee.
Sunday saw Dennis secure top spot on the scoreboard with a cracking 40points. Other swindler’s in the top10 were Mr Hogben strolling in 4th spot on 39pts, Graham ‘CC-I’m a bandit-really’ Loveless grabs 6th spot for 38pts. (Still playing off 17 Graham!!!), and Scottie in 8th with 37 points.

Well another fantastic Saturday and Sunday stableford comp for the infamous Swashbucklers. As I turned up Saturday to see if I could get out early I didn’t feel too optimistic but being given the pleasure of playing with Mr English and a Mr P LeCren, I felt I may just have a laugh on the way round.
On the way round there was many birdie putts missed and also a couple made and playing quite well I notched up a 25 point front 9 which I was over the moon about. After hitting a quite terrible drive down the 10th I saw this Cheshire cat grin on the horizon appear over the hill walking up the 16th fairway which happened to be Mr Whitefoord. He felt the need to tell me he was level par gross after 15 holes, which I later found out he was telling a lie and was actually 1 under the course but that is neither here nor there. Then, after quite a few long holes, I found myself walking back into the clubhouse with 44 points to find that would only get me second (the first loser position), but I would like for everyone to notice what a tremendous round hew had in shooting 1 over 73 on a day which other people found very tough. Not forgetting another swashbuckler in the top 10 Mr B Chamberlain with a very good score of 39 points.
Moving onto Sunday, another comp winner from the swashbucklers Mr D O’Driscoll with a very respectful 40 points. Also in the top 10 on the day from the swashbucklers we had Mr Hogben who is a bandit off of 11 and it is about time he has been cut, Captain CC who has found himself in this position quite a number of times recently, when will his bubble burst? Last but not least, Mr Yule was also in the top 10. [Edit: Mr Loveless is still off 17! Something smells there! Anyone would think he’s Captain or something… oh wait…]
Now to the more interesting end of the table…
We had 6 swashbucklers in the bottom 10, someone has to bring up the rear. So, many thanks to Matthew Strong and Tony Betteridge for their efforts on Saturday and Matt Jaggs, Mark Wheddon, Grant Adley (quite enjoys the rear) and Back Door Johnny for their efforts Sunday.
Jesus, what is in the water up there?
Not the best timing to take a month off!
