Invited by Radio Industry Golf Society (RIGS) member Grant, we had a fantastic 36holes yesterday at the impressive Sunningdale Golf Club. A late work commitment meant Grant couldn’t play in his own Society day but they kindly allowed us to play as guests without the member. Myself, Phil and Lee The Feez had a long, long day in the warm summer sunshine playing the Old and New courses.

Sunningdale is another level, the detail, preparation and history of the clubhouse and course is fantastic… a real experience. I’d been lucky to play the Old Course a year or so ago but yesterday’s society event was both Old and New courses, complete with breakfast, dinner and late tea.
Starting on the 11th hole (and having to drive to the tee), Lee Phil and I played in the guests individual stableford as a 3ball. We certainly weren’t there for the competition – helped by no real ‘sparkling’ golf from each of us – we were all just enjoying the course and weather. Though managing nicking the barracuda off of Phil was of note.

Unfortunately the prompt afternoon tee times meant the fantastic dinner was slightly rushed… but seriously great food yet again. Greensomes in the afternoon and the tee times were then all a bit delayed with people eating and catching a few overs of the England-Australia cricket semi-final.
Phil and Lee were out as a pair in one group, I was out a bit later and had a great match playing with another guest Dave, alongside members Abdi and Allan. With alternate shots after taking best drive in the pair, Dave didn’t have that a great day but we both ground out the points and managed to take the guest greensomes win and were surprised by each taking a bottle of wine home.

Thanks to Grant for organising us as guests… a top day of golf at one of the country’s best.
