Originals Vs SMUGS
Captain Jezza’s match report
What a good weekend Spurs drawing with Man U, swashbuckler’s competing well with the Early Birds and a good result for the Originals.Match Report
Brian (The Yeti) John (BDJ) started with a convincing win over Johnny Walker & Dave Burnham 3 & 2.Denzil & Martin came in with another convincing win although Denzil had to be chased from the car park to the tee & Teresa had to bring his breakfast down to him in heeled shoes. (He ate it after the match in the club house).
Jez & Paul we had a battle though out our 18 holes nip & tuck thrust and parry with Jez Richarson (members bounce over the bunker and Birdie chip in on the 15the) & Daryl what a great game with two of the nicest people that you would like to beat! Unfortunately our luck ran out on the 18Th with Jez running a 2″ put with force and leaving Daryl a shaky 4 footer to put in his pocket we lost by this putt. Fantastic game.
Graham “C.C.” Loveless & Robert Hance were my dream team on paper until they came across a very inform Clive Heard & David Fielding on the score card. Graham & Rob did well against the course but unfortunately came second with a 4/ 5 loss.
Quickly moving on to our singles matches.
Graham Mr Ex-Captain Adams won on a last put on the 18th… not his, but one that Paul Gilbody missed!Bryan played against Andy Lambros the big hitting South African with dodgy springing shoes ( the shoes did not help ) as Bryan won 4&3 and then fell to pieces ( the best way to play)
Colin was my gamble playing him against a very capable low handicapper I thought it would put off Nick Brown but plan A, Went to plan B shot myself in the foot as Nick played a blinder although Colin played well he came second.
To Sum up:
The Originals 5 The Smugs 3 Which equals 10 points to 6 points.Matt Stock played Neil Lawrence in the final match of the day. Quoted by Neil “it all was down to the putting Matt won 4& 3“.
The match was played with a great spirit & plenty of banter in clubhouse after, and we look forward to our next opponents in January.
