The Add’s Steve & Wendy and Joe
Questions to be asked, debrief required… how did Surrey National surrender the Trilogy Cup?
Short answer, we didn’t have enough on the day… but it was a good day.
Cracking weather for today’s annual Trilogy Cup. Started before the Addington joined the Group, the ‘Trilogy’ Cup is an annual mixed, ‘friendly’ competition between Committee and club members moving around each of the clubs in rotation. Representation from each club playing in 4-balls… 4pts for first stableford win in the group, 3pts for 2nd etc.

Woody warming up on the putting green
We won last year at Woldingham (shall I mention that carvery yet again?), and this year we were at the Addington. Warm and humid, the day started fairly overcast but bright, but the back nine was played out in glorious summer sun, and it was still 25degrees driving home at half 5ish.
Bit of a slow round to be honest, easily over 5 hours but we got round in the end. The Addington course was recently remeasured and the stroke indexes reviewed after the work on the tee blocks… few strange indexes out there now I have to say and a fair few par5’s for the ladies whilst par4’s for the men.
I was out at 10.40 with Maurice from the Add, Nilma from Westerham and Jeanette from Woldingham. Very nice group, we had a fun round although Jeanette and Mo didn’t have their best days. I was steady – bit frustrated by 2 blobs on the 1st and short 11th holes, despite going close on the long 3rd and 13th par3’s.
Nilma off 19 was very steady, solid off the tee and her short game was first class and she kept piling on the points on the way round. I came in with the best men’s stableford of 37points, but Nilma took the overall and ladies win with a hugely impressive 39points (complete with little dances on the green for both missed and holed putts).

Post speech, Steve and Tracey possibly on Facebook
A quick buffet at the end after we all came in and host Club Captain Steve (aka The Moose) delivered the prizes and speech… confirming that Woldingham came in 4th, Surrey National 3rd (!), and The Addington pipped Westerham by a measley half a point to take the cup.
Many thanks for a great day led by our Men’s Captain Joe. Next year it is at our gaff, and I’m sure we’ll all accept nothing less than a home win in 2017!

Final scores
Steamy Swindles
Some fantastic scoring in the great warm weather of the the weekend’s Swindles.
On Saturday Al Savs came in with a hugely impressive 2-over gross and 41 points off of Swindle. A very well deserved win mate. Playing with him, Sean was second in 38pts, with daylight between Barry in 3rd with 33.
Phil and I lost out by 3 holes to Luke and James Carter in our delayed Summer Pairs match. Young Luke hitting the ball a country mile, notably on the 6th when we measured a 389 yard drive.
Business as usual today I hear from Sunday’s Swindle. BigJaggsy (off his Swindle I should add) pipped Phil by one point today with a fantastic 39points. Well done Matt and good to see Mr Macve back in action.
RitchieBandit and Sean also returned a pair’s win against Scotty and Jez P 3&2 today.
