Spring starts here? It’s t-shirt time

Oh Jaaaaaames. Our “New Dad” Mr Murtagh gets “big” on the 16th

Saturday dawned and so did Spring.  Two days of cracking weather saw under armour stripped off, jumpers stowed and golf once again in t-shirts.  Early days, but the course was dry(ing), and Spring definitely here or not far away.

A firming course did quite well.  I didnt agree with some bemoaning the softness of the greens which took footprints very well and yes perhaps they did take some putts off line.  I went close quite a few times and though I agree the bobbles were there on the green,  I really didnt think they were that much of an issue.  Certainly took some iron shots in well.  Not bad.

Anyway Saturday Swindle of about 18 saw Jim play for the second weekend after a couple of months away and lo n’ behold he turned up with his A-game and scooped most of the ca$h with an impressive 35 points.  Jim, Simon and I played the Trainwreck game to good effect … playing in t-shirts helped too.

Sunday was the Ryder Cup, with a 5ball Swindle following the matches. The Ryder Cup reports will be a separate post.

Not sure who came out on top in the mini Swindle 5-ball of Jim, Simon, James M, Dennis and Winkle, but we did see a certain James Murtagh wander in slightly early off the 16th a bit grim-faced.  Turns out James unleashed on the 16th, carving his second well into the car park and picked out the windscreen of a certain red Hyundai.

Angle of the photo isnt great, but James picked out the tiny gap between windscreen wipers to put some hefty cracks into Mr Hogben’s windscreen. The car was a fair distance from the road, in the middle of the carpark. Thats some effort James

James had left a card on the windscreen and looked noticeably relieved when I suggested that the car was Bryan’s.  Turns out it was our Mr Hogben’s, who was in good spirits after an impressive win over Tony in the Ryder Cup.  Bryan took it all very well, and will all be cleared up in no time.  Actually, James put in a good effort clearing the Beamer, Audi and Merc all parked in front of Bryan (phew).

I also see the Ladies beat North Downs – if someone can give the ladies team Captain a poke…. Jane/Caroline/Pam/Janine for a match report, it’ll be great to post it up.
