Saturday’s Swindle was taken with a very steady 38points by Geoff, nicking the limelight from in-form Johnny C. Jaggsy had to be pinched several times for scooping the ca$h on Sunday with a mighty 30points despite some great sunshine, receptive (and improving) greens, with a measly standard scratch of 27! With only 10 playing Sunday Mr Jaggs usually times his wins when there are 20+ in the pot.
Bank Holiday Monday saw the decent weather continue, 12 turned up and again a lowly 31 shared the honours… MR Graham “Luckbox” or “Lovebox” Loveless was one, and I didnt catch the other winner. All will be revealed when Bob sends round the update.
Al Savs was playing – nice to see Hannah and their new 3week old arrival in the clubhouse after, Mr Wheddon getting a bit dewy eyed it seems. He certainly wasn’t dewy eyed when the putter went flying on the 15th, followed by a 3wood flung down the 16th almost as far as his topped layup. Young Peter was a bit put out for not taking the long drive on the 15th from me… if you will run out of fairway Mr Stevens thems the breaks!
I was also witness to a titanic grudge match battle between Mr Wheddon and Luckbox. I had assumed it was a club match given how serious it was being planned and conducted over the first few holes till I realised it was only for bragging rights. Al and I played some extremely shoddy golf alongside them and wouldve been 5 down after 5 on scratch if we were playing a pairs match.

Mark screwing up the £20 wager to Graham’s amusement. Just look at that cheesey face on the right, I mean, couldn’t you imagine a target superimposed over the top? Mark can.
Mr Loveless took the game on the final hole after water made its self known to Mr Wheddon on the 18th.
Took myself up to Walton Heath afterwards. Barry and Stevie were up there, Phil was in attendance alongside contenders Fabrizio and Max Orrin I believe. Didn’t see them but caught up with David and Rob Jackson walking around, saw David Fiedling managing his massive camera in the car park and watched the last half dozen holes with a certain Mr BackdoorJohnny.

Bit overcast but no rain. From the top, Kapoor approaching the long 16th on his way to qualify, Robert Karlsson knocking it stiff from a grassy bunker, the 18th where we saw Norrin two putt from way off the green to secure qualification. His playing partner Tom Lewis’ drive on the 18th was just awesome to see, but he just lipped out for birdie.
