After a week of wind and rain, we had a weekend of largely wind… and rain.
Course very very saturated and, despite it understandably a problem for some, I for one was pleased to see the trolley ban start on Sunday. The area left of the 6th green was a real swamp, greens sodden and fairways were quickly becoming dirt tracks with trolleys and feet pounding through.
Saturday Swindle
In the strong wind and rain, Saturday’s Swindle saw a turnout of 9. Phil and Assif having their Swindle match in first group, with Assif as the victor 3&2. Both played well, Phil took the overall Swindle from a point from his opponent.
Less said about my 16points the better…. remember the target if you are having a mare is firstly Graham’s score from the other year of 13, and Bryan H’s of 14.
Congratulations also go to the Yeti and Backdoor who on Saturday overcame the Carter’s in the club Winter Greensomes on the 17th hole (I think).
Sunday Stableford
Sunday saw the weather improve. A brief couple of showers in the morning led to a bright Winter day with the sun even making an appearance towards the end of the round. There were stories of slips and slides around the course – my own impressive wipeout by the 18th green was purely my own fault.
Ground still very wet after yet more overnight rain but the greens weren’t too bad. Assif continued his good form into the comp with 34 points and coming in second pipped by Rob ‘Bubba’ Hance.
