A 44 strong field turned out to enjoy Simon’s 50th gold day at Surrey National on Saturday. With a large group of Swashbucklers complimented by visitors from other Swindles further afield, the day was setup as a bogey competition off the whites.
Prizes of wine were spread across holes featuring nearest pins, longest drives and closest in two. Weather did its best to hold up, it was fresh but made a change to at least start off in unfamiliar sunshine.
Despite putting in a very good score of 3 under the course, the housewife’s favourite Mr Graham Adams was narrowly pipped with an excellent score of 4 under the course from a certain Mr John Clements. JC, playing off a club handicap of 15, picked up at least 3 birdies (was it 4?) and made the turn in one over gross. Congratulations.
Special mentions to Daisy casually knocking in an 8foot eagle on the 12th and Brian ‘Yeti’ Chamberlain who put his second in on the 9th. A memorable description provided by Mr Adams (sponsored by Carling).
Yes, a big thank you to Simon for organising the day and for the sandwiches and ‘chips of friendship’.
