The ‘rock’ in the regular TeamSnashfold pairing, Mrs Sharon Snashers rose to the occasion a couple of weeks ago, to take the title Swashbucklers Swindle Matchplay Champion 2017-2018 in a close match against our Mushi. The competition um, had lagged on a while to say the least, but eventually came to a head when Sharon and Mush headed out in the Swindle to play their match.
Sharon has sent over a pic and a match report – commiserations Mushi, and very well played Sharon!

My match report will be shorter than most as I haven’t got a great memory for shots played like my husband I’m afraid.
Mushtaq won the 1st, I won the 2nd and we halved the third. I won the 4th, 5th and 6th. The 5th could have been a different matter when a bird made off across the lake with my ball. Luckily Mushtaq saw it happen!
Mushtaq won the 7th, we halved the 8th and I won the 9th. 3 up at the turn even though we’d both played steadily on the first 9.
Mushtaq won the 10th, me the 11th and we halved the 12th. Then Mushtaq began his come back winning 13 and 14. Back to 1 up! We halved the 15th and 16th and then I decided to block one into the trees never to be seen again. Mushtaq therefore won the 17th.
All square going down the last! I was on a shot. Both of us drove the fairway. Decent second shots. Unfortunately Mushtaq pushed his third up onto the level part of the bank to the right of the green leaving him a tricky chip down. I hit my third shot short of the green leaving an open shortish pitch in. I decided to play it safe and run a 7 iron in. Pulled it slightly but it was on the green. Mushtaq chipped down and two putted, leaving me two putts for the match. The first was a little tentative leaving a shortish putt but a missable one. I held my nerve however and holed it.
Well done to Mushtaq for fighting back valiantly and thank you for being a gentleman as always.
