Swashbuckler success – well done Scottie
Scottie won the prestigious Scratch Cup on Friday against Mr Lambross. Had to poke him for the match report.
Posted on behalf of the Northern petal himself
It was a hard fought match against Andrew Lambross and truth be told he deserved his 1-up lead after nine with impressive hitting of the tee matched with all round play.
I was steady at best but up against huge(!) driving I had to be better.
Then there was a huge turn on 10, he was 3ft for birdie and I was short sided for a hard up and down. In short I got par and he two putted to half the hole. I went on to win 11, 13 to go 1up and made a great par saving slider on 14.
I played 4iron on 15 and Andy went for the big bomb but pushed it right and the ball was lost, gifting the hole 2-up.
He won the 16th with a good putt ,1-up.
Nerves were jangling a bit on 17 but par was good enough as Andy went long on a birdie opp and three putted, so a 2&1 victory it was(phew!).
Once again thanks to Andy for a great match which was really close throughout. Still a bit miffed for myself and past champion’s that there is no winners board for scratch champ considering other match play events are recognized but heho!
Well done, certainly deserves a board I agree – a cracking achievement. Not much of a consolation but here is a pic of Fletcher scoring a goal.
Well done mate, a fantastic win and a Swashbuckler as scratch champ. We spoke about long hitters at the club, I think your story on 15 also describes long hitters! nothing for you to be worried about mate.
Cheers Phil,top man.
As I’ve said above, great job Mr Yule.
May I also add that Scottie should now be down to plus2 in the Swindle. Some cracking golf in a tricky part of the year mate.
Come and get your free tenners! At least someone has to buy me a drink lol. Cheers Hew.
Well, if we’re brave enough we could suggest divisional handicaps reflected in the Swindle monies… (and then run away and hide before the drama unfolds)
Lol,there would be uproar.I suppose the best way to look at it is its 6 below my club hcp and there’s probably a fair few others had to do that.In some ways I like it as it keeps me on my toes.
