Another great Surrey Chamber of Commerce (SCC) Golf Day today at the very special St Georges Hill Golf Club. We had a good Swindle showing with all SCC Swindle members playing and a few guests along. Myself, Phil, Winkle, Sean, Mr Adams, Mushi, Yeti, Backdoor, Prit and Simon in action.

Clubhouse at St Georges Hill
Weather was mild for February with the odd spot of drizzle around but we had a very decent day given the time of year. Blue and Red are the prime 9’s at St Georges, but the Red is undergoing maintenance and I don’t think is open to non-members till the Autumn. So we played the Blue and Green, and had good day.
We started on the Blue nine and was probably as good as they come. A fantastic clubhouse at the top of the very private, exclusive estate featuring a historic Harry Colt heathland course. Some of the houses on the drive through the estate looked amazing. The Blue course stood out by far, undulating fairways, heather collared bunkers, wicked greens. Couple of short par’s 3 and some decent long par4s, we played off the yellows and you needed to be on your game to score.

Outside the club house looking down at the Red 18th fairway and the starter/halfway house.
Our fourball of myself and Phil vs Sean and Winkle had a good, if slightly one-sided game, due mostly to Phil being very much on form. Back to back birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes setting the tone. (I came in on at least two holes out of the 18… honest). We took the game 5&4.
Somewhat light on prizes after a nice meal of…. pie. Phil was pipped on the nearest the pin on the 2nd, and I was nipped on the longest drive. Not to be outdone, Phil’s solid 37 points took second overall, missing out on the member’s prize by a 12 handicapper turning in 43pts scoring just 5 over gross. Well done Mr Macve.
