Captain Sean’s Comments…
So the short answer is we got a draw. A blustery day – No Rain & bright sunshine, but extreme winds and very soggy underfoot.
Challenging conditions that sorted the men from the boys. So special praise to those that won their matches:
- Hew
- Max
- Lee Feasey & Jim Doran
- John Clements & Brian Chamberlain
Well fought to those that battled all the way 18th
- Bryan
- Daisy
And commiserations to those who were dispatched rather earlier in the round…
- Steve McNally & Sean Savedra
- James Murtagh and Mustaq
To me the day was summed up by the final two singles coming in on the 18th. Daisy and Max were both giving shots away – Neil Lawrence managed to sink a 20 footer to par and take them to 8:7, but Max came straight back to sink a 10 foot birdie putt to win the match and hold them to a draw.
Early Birds – 9
SMUGS – 8
Swashbucklers – 8
Bobs bashers – 7
However the reality is, the early rounds are only there to set up the final – so let’s make sure we win the next two rounds. There is time to get your form together for the next round at the end of Jan
Good floating John!
