This was never going to be an easy match for us, clearly PK’s the strongest team of the five. But we had a plan and it almost came off. We lost 10-6, but it could have been so much worse.
JC was still struggling with a chest infection and would rather have not played and Rob Hance had injured his finger tips the day before trying not to fall off a roof. Unfortunately we had no subs to play with and we had already drafted in Super Sub Dave Shirley to replace Mushie who had an urgent appointment with a scalpel!
Lee and Josh led us out and were 4 up in the first 9. A n early bath for the PK and early points for The Originals.
Barry and Bryan H followed them out and despite Bryan’s tee shot on the first just clearing the ladies tees they gave a battling performance finally succumbing on the 17th to level the teams up.
Super Sub Dave and myself took on Andy Gorman and Steve Bracey. A great game where apart from a couple of holes, a gross par = half. A great game rather than a good one because we won 2&1! BC and JC sadly lost also on to same score. At the end of the pairs the teams were all square.
The singles were always going to be tough for us, I put my banker pairing out last and though we would scrap a half in the match, but although “Postman” Asif duly delivered, Tony was soundly beaten by an inform Danny Betts, despite a strong performance by Tony.
Rob Hance suffered his first loss in singles for a long time and Graham L played against Stu Massey, not the easiest of matches but Graham battled well (I believe losing 2&1).
Our toughest match out of the way a creditable score, now we plan to fill out boots before we meet the Swashies in 2020.
In other news…
Don’t think we’ll get a match report from Swashies’ Scottie but needless to say we managed a win over the gritty MOBs.
