Another strong team showing for Messrs Nebbeling/Gorman/Oakley/Simmonds
Team specialists Gavin Nebbeling, Andy Gorman, Stu Simmonds and Keith Oakley took the Anniversary Cup this year – they always do well in the team games. A very impressive 89points arguably couldve been beaten in a previous years – I’m sure 90, 92ish has won it before.
Winners they were with a mostly Swindle team running second, with Wayne, Ben, Peter and young Ben Lodrick Osbourne returning a very respectable 86points.
For some reason the teams were stacked on Sunday, and barely 3 teams went out Sunday. No doubt next year will be the one day for this cup. Our team on Sunday looked good on paper to challenge 89points, but we jsut didnt have it on the day. I certainly put on an awful putting display, just couldnt get my head around the greens. They werent good, but defintely more to do with the idiot at the other end. We came in with 83 points, and couldnt even nip past the TeamMacveDreamTeam who had 85 the day before.
Peter’s Hole in One! (Words from Waynetta)
“Pete’s hole in one came on 7th, I think Ben took a photo {editor: he didnt take one as he didnt want to hold grp behind up!].
Apparently a 4 iron and he then ran to the hole like he was on fire, thinking he had seen it go in, which Andy Gorman didn’t think you could possibly to do, but I explained we are a good few inches taller!!!”
Very well done Peter. Clubhouse appreciated the bottle of whiskey left on the bar (Stevie Boy especially thanks you!)
Surrey National pipped in Daily Mails @home on Sunday (Words again from Wayne)
“Stuart won on 14th, I won on 17th 2&1, Tony was pipped, Andy got beaten 5&3 I think, but the excitement was Woody being all square on 18th, had a shot, but 3 putted to go one down. The other guy made a very good 1 putt to win the match, but that’s what it all came down to, so we are out now.”
