Gutted to miss the finals day of the Ryder Cup as it was my year as captain, just so you all know I did have to walk and climb at least 13 miles to get signal to keep up to date on the score, (please see photo).
From seeing the final scoreboard and also being given a full detailed evaluation from Phil (stand in Captain) that we was so close to retaining the Ryder cup. Some great scores on the day with from what I understand were very tricky greens, especially for the lower handicappers as this is where they can gain points.
Lead by example some say and our very own stand in captain did this coming in with 35 points to take the first 3 points of the day. A well done Mr Nowak as much as it hurts me to say great score of 39 points (single figures soon). Mr Yule as always played very well until he bogeyed the last 5 holes and still came in with 35 points. Snasher played out of his boots to score 33 points to come last in his group which in any other group would have been 3 points. I would like to say 2nd place is not a bad result, but as I always say there’s no prize for 2nd place, we will have to win it back next year.
I have enjoyed being captain this year even with the pressure of some of you very moany B*****ds complaining for not being in the team!! From my understanding a certain Mr S. McNally Esquire is/was going to be captain next year, let’s hope his e-mail correspondence improves dramatically.
Let’s all get ready for next year!!!!

The Originals suffered a bad day at the office on Saturday.
Despite the heroics of Simon (a fine win with 37 points), Peter (shared the win with Sean in a very tight match) and Henk, who won his match and also bagged a hole in one on the 3rd (which proved vital as the winning margin was one point), the rest of us suffered. There were seconds for Bryan and Graham Loveless, I managed to nick a point and Jez and Danny half a point apiece, but the 7 blanks told the story of our day.
Congratulations to Bobs Bashers who deservedly won this year by playing consistently well throughout, and well done the Swashbucklers for pushing them hard.
As usual in this competition, everything was played in great spirits, and the day was enjoyable even with our bad team performance.
We will be fighting harder under the new Captaincy of Graham Adams next year.
