Saturday’s Swindle (posted on behalf of Phil “Guiness please mate” Macve)
Not many for the swindle today, seven of us. A few playing in the comp, the B Tour away in Portugal and the forecast of rain, pretty much all day, may have kept the numbers down. However, it didn’t rain, in fact it was warm and dry, lovely, bit of wind which made it interesting and bunkers out of play but the comp was still qualifying, there’s a first, good though.
We were a four and a two, I was in the four, the balls went up and I partnered Scotty!!! I know how to pick partners…apparently and Jonny C and Sean made up the opposition.
Scott played out of his boots and apart from winning with 39 points, he shot 70 and had his first EVER bogey free round, absolutely fantastic golf, so many great shots, he’s a golfer.
I lost my regular fiver with Mark who had 35? or thereabouts points, well done mate, good golf. I could only manage 28 and after being told off for taking my buggy off the paths on the 7th, my round was pretty much over, struggled to walk the rest of the round, shame the marshall wash’t around to keep the speed of play up, ridiculous loss of holes by a couple of groups and not a marshall in sight, why can’t we marshall our competitions?
Well done today too, to two Matts (that’s a lot of twoooos), firstly to Matt Strong for finally, after a lot of ear bashing from me and others, finally having a lesson and well done to Matt Stock for taking on the challenge, seemed like it went well. Good luck Matt, stick with it, it works.
Comp tomorrow for those that didn’t play today and lastly, news from the tour, Pritpal won the first two days, now playing off of 5, not a problem I doubt.
