Saturday 8th
Large field on Saturday with 50 in the comp, but barely a Swashbuckler playing (our usual Saturday lot out on tour). Some seriously good scores in the comp. Pat Kinnear from the Bashers had a great round coming in with a nett 64 to pip young Ben Lodrick Osbourne by two. Out in the Swindle we saw Ben hit the pin on the 5th green from over the water down in the reeds… cracking shot. Stu took the gross with a 73 from young Ben’s very impressive gross 74 with Pat in next with his 76. Great golf.
Swindle
8 of us out in two tidy fourballs. Winkle was in very good form, taking the overall win with 37 points and the clubhouse matchplay with Phil. In our fourball of Beef Austin and myself vs. Waynus and Winkle, Mark played a very steady game as Wayne wilted somewhat with a dodgy back they managed beat us by two.
Phil and Strongbow took on Jaggsy and Sean in the other fourball, a very close match with the ‘boomeranging’ of Phil and Matt taking it on the 17th. A hint of rain, course in decent nick though severely hollow tined without a hint of sand leaving the greens quite bumpy and inconsistent.
Sunday Medal & Sean bags his first hole in one!

Sean on the 7th
More Swindlers out today but a small field of just under 20. Weather was better than Saturday, mostly in t-shirts and light jumpers. I managed to squeak a win in the medal with a gross 71. Pleased with that, however Sean certainly takes the headlines with his first ever hole in one.
Taking his ‘heaven’ wood off the tee of the 7th, it was clearly a decent shot but who knows where it ended up with the hole itself hidden from the tee. Walking up to the green, balls were counted off… Mr Feez suggests to Jaggsy to check the hole and there it was. Sean clearly very chuffed, celebrations started by an excitable Mr Jaggs.
Well done Sean, his first hole in one…. and of course thanks for the drink (a coffee!). Helpfully he did it in a a club comp to help out with the pennies.
Scottie and Jez in regional finals
More news on the Titleist Matchplay front, Scottie and Jez were one match away from the West Hill regional finals day. They were due to play the guys who had knocked out myself and Al Savs. Met their guy outside the clubhouse and had a quick chat – unfortunately one of them couldn’t make it due to work thing at the last minute.
So he was taking on our boys solo… fair play to him . It did heap some pressure on Scottie and Jez obviously and a little bird (in the shape of Wayne), texted me earlier to say they won 3&2…. so not all plain sailing.
Match report possibly from Mr Yule but good luck in the finals.
Second Tour going well
Jolly Boys seem to be having a good time over in Portugal at the moment, not much news on who’s playing well and who’s not.

Similar to a picture of Mr Loveless having a snooze in our tour… here comes another stalwart grabbing 40winks on the way back from a game.

Another Mr Snoozy
