World Handicap System (aka “WHS”) is supposedly landing at the beginning of November.
Going to be a big change… but a necessary one (and perhaps painful one to start) in order to standardise handicapping.
National Club Golfer is a good online golf magazine and they’ve posted a podcast of a beginners guide to the WHS.
It’s about 30mins long but will help with some background and debunking some myths around the process.

I did read that England Golf have sent out ‘packs’ to all clubs with more information and help in educating golfers on the new system.
So no doubt ProShop will be sending info out soon as well.
Worth listen… did you know that slope is not just the difficulty of the course?
The calculation is based on 1) a course rating (how a scratch player will score on the course), 2) a bogey rating (how a handicap/club golfer would score) and 3) then multiplied by a factor to determine the slope rating.
