Turned out a few of the Swindle played in the Surrey Chamber of Commerce’s golf day at the fantastic Coombe Hill Golf Club.
The forecast promised rain and for once it was right – light drizzle, heavy drizzle and full on rain throughout the day. A serious members club, the clubhouse just oozed class, and the course was fantastic despite the weather. Really is the endless small touches around the course which sets clubs like these apart. Greens were heavy with the rain but they were like closely clipped carpet with some wicked borrows despite the damp. 3putts a plenty and putt after putt finished 5feet past. Apparently they are very serious when dry and quicker.

Playing with Brian, Sean and another Society member Roy, we had a great pairs match coming out all square on the last but nothing special in the overall scoring. The greens did us all in, but everyone had a great day enjoying the layout (if not the hectic traffic getting there).
Big Lee Feez won the longest drive with a characteristic monster, and the Yeti snapped up one of the nearest the pins on one of the great par3’s putting it to about 5inches.
Simon B took the overall honours and a bottle of bubbly with 34 points on countback.
