A fresh weekend which, whilst it stayed dry, saw a chilly wind on Saturday (complete with two very brief hail showers!) and it remain cool on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Format of the Anniversary Cup is 4ball teams; best two scores counting off 90% of club handicap.
On the windier, colder Saturday, the Pistols team of Kev Perry, Richard Henderson, Andy Gorman and Tom Tomney put a great round together of 86 points. Pistols also ran a full stableford comp and we heard that Tom helped his team by coming in with 40pts to take the win. Well played all.
Sunday was slightly less windy so the temperatures not as low. Most of the Swashies playing on Sunday, we had £20 on the nose for winning team. The stalwarts of Adams, Chamberlain, Hogben and Bone not only won the ‘average-age’ prize (!) but took our money after they returned a very creditable 86points… coming in 3rd overall.
Winners over the weekend turned out to be the newly crowned Order of Merit winner, James Carter, a certain long-hitting lad of his, Luke, together with serial winners Gabriel and Kev Harman. Clearly a very useful team and big congratulations to each of them and their team score of 88pts. Well played.
