Mid March Stableford – Magner’s and Mr Vicars

15 March, 2015 by Hew 1 Comment

Saturday

3369On a bright but very fresh Saturday, and out of a very large field of 60, new Swashbuckler Simon took 2nd overall in Saturday’s Stableford with an impressive 38points chipping a stroke of his handicap.  Well done.

On the other end of the scale, Saturday’s table was held up with the might of the McNally’s… Bob and Stevie.  Steve’s disappointment (or rather bemusement) in taking the wooden spoon with 22 points was overcome with the assistance of several Magners.

With the McNally’s unfortunately filling the bottom two slots, lets not forget Mr Loveless’ contribution in coming in 3rd from last.  Well done sir.

Sunday

colin-1Sunday’s chilly Stableford was a much damper, drizzly affair.  With several not fancying the weather a somewhat reduced field of 29, we still had a mob of us out there representing the Swindle.

Wayne came in early doors with a fine 35 points.  A decent score to post.  We then had Colin gleefully wander in (fresh from locking his keys in his car the day before) with a stupendous 37.  Well done Colin – that knee turning in, not out tip from Matt Stock clearly doing the business.  And well demonstrated in the clubhouse.  Dignity nearly maintained!

Lee was pipped by Colin but came back in with an excellent 36.  Colin was sitting pretty until Mr John Vicars walked in.

On a cold, damp, drizzly day, John posted an awesome one over par 73… smashing the leaderboard with 44 points!  Every dog eh John.  A cracking round and well deserved the win!  Watch out Original’s next week.

Also, we suspect our Northern petal Scottie looks good for the Order of Merit with one comp left in this golfing year.  Could we have a second consecutive Swashbuckler take the top Golfer of the Year title?  Watch this space.

Phil reaches another final

Thursday saw the Massey Snr/Macve pairing  reach the final of the 5day Winter greensomes winning their semi final match 4&3.  They now face the ever gritty and determined Messrs Hance and Newton pairing in the big final.

and finally…

Posted on behalf of Mr Lee La Machina Snashfold

Right behind the comp yesterday, we played the semi final of the mixed pairs.  Sharon and I v Phil and Caroline Wells. Turned out to be nip and tuck all the way, we were all square going down 18 and managed to win the last.

We now play an all Swashbucklers final v Graham and Janine Adams.
