Joe’s letter was circulated today. I’ve added a couple of photos.
Dear Members,
Matt clearing 9th green after the downpour
The year is going very well and despite what Mother Nature has thrown at the course the greenkeepers and staff have done a great job in getting the course in great shape.
Last weekend saw the greens running at 11 on the stimp meter!
The big storm we had, happened 10 days before the Club Championship! Despite this, the green keepers worked exceptionally hard to get the course into good condition, with over 60 tonnes of sand being put back into the bunkers!
Talking of The Club Championships we’ve now played 2 majors, The Club Champs (including Ladies Champs) and The Blue Bogey.
The seniors also played their Seniors Championships Day on Monday 27th June which was won by Dennis Austin with a gross score of 87 on count back against Steve Benham and Ralph Whitworth!
Well done Dennis!
Mens and Ladies Club Champs 2016, Stuart and Caroline!
For those of you that may not know, The Club Championship Day was won by Stuart Massey with a gross score of 153 (with the absence of his Son, 4 time winner Jackson Massey) couldn’t resist adding that Mass!
Runner up was Hew Whitefoord, a great effort from Hew only 2 shots behind on 155.
Well done Mass!
The Ladies Champs was won by Caroline Wells with runner up Janine Adams, well done both!
The Blue Bogey was literally smashed up by Matthew Jaggs who finished 7 up! 4 up on Jay Massey with only four other players finishing up on the course so well done Matt, great result!
By the way there were 9 two’s on the day with Bob English getting two of them!!
Next up is The Captain’s Cup on Sat 30th July, the round will be followed with a 1 course lunch and prize giving to which I will be donating a Captain’s prize!
There’s plenty of names on the board so looks like it’s going to be a good turnout to which I’m very much looking forward too!
May I take this opportunity to remind you of my Captain’s Charity The NSPCC and my Captains Three Putt Challenge. Three putt any hole during a club comp results in 50p in the charity jars on the bar.
We recently emptied the jars and had £100! So thank you all for your support and please remember to donate, there’s also £1.00 in the jar for going into the drink on the 18th!
Donations can also be made on my Justgiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/SurreyNSPCC
The Club Charity Day is a long way off but please put a note in your diary for March 16th 2017. This will be a great day which will be well supported by The NSPCC with lots of raffles and some great auction prizes, I already have an auction item which is a must for any football fan!
I look forward to seeing as many of you there on the day, you can also invite friends and colleagues or make a corporate day of it and invite customers? The more that make it the more money we raise!
I’m thoroughly enjoying my year, thanks to all of you for your continued support and banter!
Best wishes,
Joe Krarup.
