Originals 13 Early Birds 3
The score line suggests an easy win but anyone who ventured out on Sat would confirm there was nothing easy in that cold wind and light rain.
Early Birds decided to have a “team meeting” in a local curry house on Friday to boost the confidence and energy after their emphatic win last time. When Dilip went to the bar around midnight and asked “Well what shots have you got left then?” Perhaps a seed was sown.
Stuart Massey led Early Birds charge in the first pairs out and despite some exceptional play he still had to birdy the 18th (from the rough by the bunker) to extract a half. Matt and Rob have been strong throughout this campaign and to secure a half was commendable. Gav Nebbling had to shoot 3 under his handicap to secure Early Birds only win, and the rest was one way winning traffic Originals march on unbeaten in the round robin section of the comp.
Originals lead the table and despite the other teams still having one match each to go only Bob’s Bashers can catch us, but with 28 points compared to our 41 it would take an outstanding effort for them to catch us.
The format for the final is a fourball shoot out stableford scoring with the winner of each getting 3 points, second 2, third one and 4th the beers! Each team has to field 15 players and the 12 top scores count so there is 36 points up for grabs. We are in the final, Bobs virtually made it, but who will join us? Well done Swashers for lifting yourselves off the bottom.
16th April, put it in the diary.
