A cracker of a weekend – end of May doing the dummer thing!
This weekend was the monthly stableford, the likes of which we won’t see for a month or so given Club Champs in mid June. It was the Lombard Qualifier weekend to boot – something that the members were generally not too clued up on an extra as £2.50 was requested at comp signing in time!
The Lombard Qualifier is assigned to a club competition once a year across the country where clubs select a member to partner their club pro at a regional event… to then perhaps step towards a national final at Gleneagles and perhaps then further afield for the big final. Mr Vicars headed over to Mexico with Matt year before last in the Lombard finals and Mr Lee “All Hail… etc” Feasey was a balls’ circumference from pushing the regional at Kingswood into a playoff.
Numbers were a bit down across the weekend for some reason, Saturday’s especially given the Froch fight that evening. Saturday’s gauntlet was thrown down by Lee who after steady 16 points on the front decided to unload on the back (so to speak), firing a 3 or 4 under resulting in a fantastic 42 points (that’s a gross 73, one over.. lifty). Oh and it was tough to get the story of the round from him after, but after zero encouragement we all heard about the birdie/par fest! Cracking stuff.
Sunday was another great May afternoon. Swashbucklers out in force in the comp but only 4 in the top ten. Mr Jaggs recovered well from the Swindle Feasey-c8$h-robbery on Saturday to hoover up the fivers with a very solid 38.
Congrats to Lee – 73 is a great score… lets see more of the same Mr 6.1.
