Sharon and Lee
Sharon and I headed to Seaford Head to defend our mixed open title on what turned out to be a beautiful day.
Dissapointing numbers this year and only 2 pairs from Surrey National.
We played with a delightful Brother and Sister,
Richard and Millie and got out to a fast start. Playing foursommes, we received 18 shots, 2 points on the first were followed by 5 straight pars for 3 points and a birdie for 4 points on the index 2, 7th for an astonishing 21 points after 7 holes.
We turned in 24 points and continued to rack up points with 36 after 14.
The last 4 holes saw us stumble home with only a further 3 points as the wind at the highest point of the course off the sea made it almost unplayable. Being blown forward when chipping, we were sending shots from one edge over the other, then back again.
39 points saw us win by one from our playing partners to our great relief as I knew their back 9 was better than ours.
Seaford Head does seem to suit us, to win this event for a 3rd year in a row is a proud achievement and we look forward to defending our title next year.
