Dual in the Sun – Return of the Magnificent 4.
After last year’s soggy soaking its nice to report the trip was full of sun sea and … sunbathing.

Torrequebrada Club de Golf
Colin Town, who we believe only recently recovered from last year’s heroics in the bars of Benalmadena, decided to let his clubs doing the talking (unlike Bob who preferred his cart driving to take centre stage) and duly won the first day’s golf with a creditable 31 points. Next day at breakfast he sat on his own bravely declaring he was on the winners-only table – trouble was it to became the losers table for the remainder of the week.
Prit’s day one nightmare became a day 2 victory, but Boney and Adams hit the front of the leaderboard with steady, if not spectacular scoring, Prit however was back in the comp. Day 3 with 33 points Graham started to pull away from the crowd, Boney in hot pursuit. Bob ‘Schumacher’ McNally was in training practicing his power drifting on the buggy paths.
Thursday Martin made his move with a magnificent 36 whittling Graham’s lead who had a shi**** er bad day. Boney, Prit , Martin and Graham were beginning to look like front runners, whilst the McNally’s and Mushtaq were in line for the other magnificent trophy. Bob, who by this time, thought he’d mastered the power drift, took out his buggy in the gates of Santana golf club, still we’re not going there next year.
Friday’ initial farce with La Carla trying (and failing) to send another player out with us, got into Boney’s head and clubs, whilst Brian just let his clubs do the talking to win the day. Graham and Martin slugged it together to put themselves in the final round 1st and 2nd with Prit and Boney settling in 3rd and 4th.
Torrequebrada was hot and sunny ready for the final day shootout. Mushtaq steeled himself not to come last and after a nervy front 9 came in with a strong 19 points on the back 9, but to no avail the trophy is now in the Shuja vault for a year and he’s confiscated the wife’s key. The Magnificent-4 set off in the last group. Martin’s steely resolve all week left him on the front 9 and with too much to makeup, fell out of contention. Prit, Boney and Graham completed the front 9 almost honours even, with all to play for. With 5 holes to go, Boney’s game-face was revealed and with Graham’s game stuttering the final hole, Prit had a one shot lead over Graham and Boney.
3 drives left us all looking for the balls in the trees and all found. Prit and Graham played up to the green, Prit bogeying for 1 point Graham paring for 2. Baz was still looking for his ball which he played out of the trees but sadly it was lost.
This left Prit and Graham joint winners on 170 points Baz on 168.
Brian made a late charge to win the final day (winning 2 days in a row) and help his roomie Barry to win the pairs comp. In the Ryder Cup the Whippersnappers took the honours. Overall there were 217 blobs between us all over the 6 rounds – Graham being Mr Tightwad and Bob Schumacker McNally being Mr Blobby!
