Last Saturday Team Captains Dan Mason and Rob Hance both put out very strong teams for the always-anticipated head-to-head between our Swindle’s two Ryder Cup teams. Clubhouse berforehand seemed all very practical and clinical to be honest, no unnecessary bravado and wild adhoc bets flying around. Perhaps lets call it ‘quiet determination’.
Two new Original recruits of Ross and Grant took the hefty scalps of Thumb & Thumber (aka Wayne and Tom) in the opening match. Scotty & Dan and Phil & Jaggsy took wins against Boney & Bryan and Phil & Tony, before Savs & Jim lost to the hungover Mr Loveless and canny Backdoor Johnny.
Jack and myself were out in the singles against Lee and young Harry respectively. We all enjoyed the round but the Swashies had too much on the day. So looking healthy for Swashies at that point until Rob and Dave pulled in the wins for the Originals in the last group.
Great game, 8-8 is a decent result for all. I think the Pistols won 11-5 against The MOB, so I think the Swashies and Pistols are levelling pegging at the moment. Not sure – all to play for on finals day as the swings can be quite big across the placings in each mixed Swindle group.
I’m afraid I don’t know overall scores – I don’t think a legaue table is published but I’m hoping there will be going into finals day. Bit sad that, not knowing standings throughout this year but lets see what finals day brings.
