By and large we got away with the weather over the weekend. Grey, damp and a strong wind on Saturday, a bit damp(er) on Sunday with a smidge of drizzle but less wind. Course isnt bad given the time of year – greens are ok but a couple still recovering from being treated (10th especially). Inherent in mild damp weather, the green will inevitably bobble up with large footprints hammering them but they are standing up ok.
TeamSnashers cleaned up on Saturday halving the overall between them, Lee getting a pin (I think) and Sharon taking the front. It was a big Swindle and I think Securicor was being called to escort them home.
From coming last on Saturday with a disappointing 20points (sorry for mentioning that Graham!), the day after the night before at Christmas Ball clearly helped Captain Mainwairing turn things around by taking the overall on Sunday. Cue one of his naff jokes which suddenly appear when he’s got ca$h coming his way. Well done.
On Sunday, we had a couple of matches played. Tony won on the extra hole in the Knockout match vs Mr Snashers. Lee said he knocked in a very long par putt as they went up the 1st again before Tony slotted in a birdie for the win. Mushi trounced our Colin in their Knockout match winning on the 12th.
Oh and FYI Winkle
Mark, you said I was talking tosh when I said Antonio Bandaid-eras was in our Swindle.
I didn’t go to the Ball on Saturday evening but hearing from those who played in the Swindle on Sunday it was apparently very well attended. Known for spilling his food/drink/everything down his front, an unknown contributor captured the moment of glee on Graham’s face when he spotted a dribble or two down the shiny white front of a certain Matt Strong. Ta Jaggsy.
