On a muggy, wet Saturday, a good turnout saw members and Swindlers all head out for the Captain’s Cup. Playing off the blues, a split field went out off 1st and 10th.
The weather didnt behave, the drizzle came and went throughout the morning making the rough soggy and clingy. As a result, and despite the greens being soft, the scores were not that great. Out of our lot, score after score returned in the 20’s.
Barry, Bryan and myself had a shootout to see who played the “best” out of our very poor golf… unsurprisingly, each of us ended up with a woeful 27 points each. Even hot favourite, Mr Matty Jaggsy had a shocker by his own account.
Despite Graham Loveless being announced as our Swindle winner this year, I understand Simon Christian took the win by a couple of points… well done Simon.
Dave Paige won the day overall with a steady 38 points. Andy Gorman second, and Barry Sweetman third. The whiteboard a bit sparse of scores (perhaps Matt was a bit too ambitious marking out for any 40 scores). Defending Champ Deano Feezeee was pushed into4th by countback. Booo.
Swashbucklers were not to be without something and our very own BackDoorJohnny, grabbed some wine for a nearest the pin on the 7th… mustve been a very good shot to pip Tony’s cracking effort.
Beware the rough at East Sussex National
Graham (Adams) sent this picture over during the week. The silage bails were as a result of them ‘trimming’ the rough. Countless bails suggests that the rough mustve been immense… no doubt Graham had enough trouble in what was remaining (which apparently was still pretty punishing).
It was Jim’s birthday on the 1st. Happy Birthday.
Dom Khan, famous of the “Dom’s Diva’s” mini Swindle had a birthday today. Happy Birthday mate.
On Monday, its our very own Dave Shirley’s birthday, another excuse to post a top pic of Dave in his best flashing yellow jumper.
