Bright warm and slightly cloudy day for a Surrey Chamber of Commerce day at Cuddington. I’d not played there before despite driving past it countless times.

Clubhouse today at Cuddington
A proper members club, its a gentle parkland course not too long and with easy walking. Greens however required quite a bit of respect, being firm and quite fast. Good weather and a course in good nick for our 3ball of myself Simon B and Backdoor Johnny.
Few too many 3putts amongst us, but we had a decent barracuda match won by Simon. Lush greenside rough proved especially tricky. Finding quite a few bunkers on the front nine, Backdoor woke up on the back nine with 20points to Simon’s 19. At the end, my pair of 17pts returned 34 overall, matched Simon and we both beat Johnny by only 1. Cue johnny regaling us with tales of what could’ve been if only those couple of putts had dropped.

Out first, we had quite a wait for the groups to all come in but we had a nice meal at the end of a long day. In the shake up, with a heap of people on 34pts, I nicked 4th in the members for a bottle of red and Simon secured 2nd and a bottle of white and champagne.
New Zealand next on the calendar, probably not for me this year, but some great courses still to enjoy on the rota before the end of the year.
