Big turnout today for Graham’s 60th down on the south coast – Seaford Head Golf Club. Wee bit of a trip but it made a fantastic change, a lovely day – challenging course and some good… some not so good… scoring. On the drive down, the weather was overcast and grey but wandering up to the first the sun came out and stayed with us. A steady stiff-ish breeze meant the course needed some respect despite us only playing off the yellows. Greens decent if a bit slow and woolly… probably cut slightly long else the wind on the coast would blow all the balls off!
Jezza has been fighting a sore back recently, but did an awesome job managing everything for us motley crew and the Birthday Large himself. Monies, competition, groups and prize giving, a superb job Mr Assig… thanks from us all.
Food was great – solid, well presented and tasty. Shovel fulls of lasagna got my vote. Seaford Head did us really proud with a cracking breakfast and post-game lunch. Thanks to them.
Prizes went to the deserved and the undeserved. D*ck of the Day went to Bryan H, who squeaked in with 24. Somehow, Janine’s 23 got conveniently overseen. Good… rare chivalry from the men meant Bryan got the jeers and not our Jan!
TeamBandit won the overall prize… full of bandits… and Mark. BackDoor, Simon C, Winkle and CC Loveless scooped overall team prize. Front and back were won with some great scores, Mick taking front (was this shared with 22?) and Simon C took back nine with a suspicious, I mean, impressive 25. Simon pipped Jaggsy who came in with 24… this with with a blob on the 10th.
Birthday boy Graham was appropriately embarassed by almost taking the nearest the pin before CC scooped it up.
Overall winner on the day was Backdoor Johnny, with a hugely impressive 41 points!
A cracking day out with the sun leaving more than a few a bit lobster red.
