Congrats to James Carter – Order of Merit Winner 2019
Well done James.
After the frustration of a March competition cancelled on Sunday after returning a solid Saturday score, James got his head down and just edged ahead of Ray Robertson for the 2019 win. Great steady golf Ray. NOTE: This is being posted on the assumption that the OoM is confirmed after the competition this weekend.
Thoroughly well deserved James, great golf mate.
A ‘highly commended’ to our Northern Petal
Special note to our Scottie. I think he said that – as well as winning last year or year before – he was aiming for 7 years in a row featuring in the top10. He achieved that with a fantastic 5th place – there isn’t a committee prize for that so well done mate… unbeatable year-on-year standard of top golf.
Easter Medal
Fantastic weather this Easter weekend and it saw the best of young Harry who returned a superb 73gross to take the overall win in the last (and I think only the 2nd?) medal of the year.
Great round Harry, well done.
Hope that score is carried over to West Byfleet and we see that handicap drop. Certainly wasn’t easy with firm greens which were a bit ropey having been cut on Thursday and then 3-4days growth making them quite slow and inconsistent. Mr Delany returned the overall mens win with a very good nett 68.
UPDATED: Bryan H takes 2nd in seniors OoM
Posted this a smidge too early…. and I didn’t mention the fantastic result of one of our founding Swindlers, Mr Bryan Hogben, taking 2nd place in the Seniors Order Of Merit.
Enjoying the sizeable and highly competitive Seniors at Surrey National, Bryan has just been pipped this year by Graham Hooton. Firstly, well done Graham.
Bryan has been playing for the Seniors Surrey Hills team contributing to their ongoing sucess. I played with Bryan (and Brian C) today in the Easter medal and his steady golf (and he was off the whites today), was very impressive and he returned a solid overall 7th place. Great golf.
An ‘Original’ yes, however a Swashbuckler for sure… well done Bryan! Next year we expect a runaway win!
