Very, very sad news at the end of last week, Carol Newman passed away after an illness.
A fantastically bubbly character at the club, Carol will be missed by all. Most definitely the rock in the infamous and always-dangerous mixed pairings partnership with Mr Graham Loveless (I’m sure Graham will agree), I’ve seen first hand that when Carol’s putting was hot… blimey, it was on fire. The innocent “whoops, it went in” followed by a massive grin as she won yet another hole!
I will always remember her strong-arming people at Graham’s Seaford Head day, going around the tables at lunch clearing up people’s unfinished food so she could pile it on my plate as I accidentally mumbled I could always eat a bit more pie. We also shared a sincere Jaffa cake appreciation, and it wouldn’t be unusual for her to motor over a fairway in her buggy to ensure I had a jaffa cake to enjoy.
Our collective thoughts are with all of her family and friends.
I’ve quite a library of photos over recent years, here are a few with Carol.
