Blue Medal weekend, so we were all lining up our war stories about naff putting, horror holes and dreams generally sold down the Swanee. So it proved for some (*wave*), but we did see some great golf played.
First off, Saturday’s Swindle was just 8 of us, with Senor Blake doing the usual and scooping the mon£y with a massive 38points.
In the Blue Medal comp, our own Simon (Bailey) had put in a very good round on Saturday despite a decent breeze and a few drops of rain amongst the late Spring sun. His countback set him on top with a nett 70.
Sunday was a smidge warmer, pins in same spots as Saturday and the course in good nick, if perhaps a tad lush for those of us finding too many shots in the rough. Sam shot the round of the weekend on Sunday in the comp with a gross 67 off the blues, recording a nett 63 and seeing him down to a handicap of 2.7.
Our threeball of Paul G, The Mass and myself had a good round… mostly watching Stu’s very steady play whilst Paul and I provided the comedy golf and disappointment on the greens. Paul knocked a very impressive 25footer for eagle on the 12th but we weren’t really on it today.
Simon (Greenwood) took the clubhouse lead with a nett 69 in the early afternoon, good golf, if a bit creative playing out off the 12th greenside bunker after teeing off the 13th. Sam then rolled in with his fantastic round.
Sam played with Jez and Scottie and our Northern petal himself returned a very solid round and is now down to 3.2 I see.
