Overall the weekend promised showers and overcast skies, but managed to turn out quite nice despite two damp, warm and sticky days.
Saturday saw the Blue Bogey come around, basically matchplay against the course off 7/8th handicap. A major with 30 points on offer, we played off the blue tees with some tricky pin placements as usual. Brian Chamberlain and myself had the pleasure of Scottie Yule play some awesome controlled golf to shoot a gross 73 and end up a 3 under the course… nipping John Vicars on countback who also came in with 3 under.
However the day was taken by our own Mr Mark Wheddon *cough* — now MAJOR WINNER if you haven’t heard him say yet — with four five under the course. Great play and his playing partners were quick to compliment his steady play (before he had a chance to say so)!
Well done Mr Wheddon – Swashbuckler major winner. And congrats on taking your order of merit points from 1 to 31! Also, kudos for offering the card up for a general play handicap cut, always good to see handicaps trimmed, this despite it being a non-qualifier. Good job.
