Anniversary Cup was held over the two days of the weekend. Saturday saw wind up, light rain early but generally fair, Sunday’s weather was better and made a very nice change playing 18 holes in t-shirts in the sun.
Saturday’s storming round by Stu, Gav, Andy and Keith wasn’t to be beaten. I heard they had 9 birdies, no doubt on shot holes… a cracking round.
Two Swindles teams of the MacveDreamTeam and TeamTown (feat. Messrs Yule, Parfitt and Gilbody), came in joint third with a very impressive 87.
In our fourball, it wasn’t our day… especially on the greens, 9 or so lipouts were counted! Two 7-point holes were the only highlights, rest really not up for reporting.
Special mention to Jim’s approach to the 15th. Finding his ball in thick rough at least waist high beside the right bunker he slotted it to about 8 feet. Such was our collective luck, the putt didnt drop.
Rough was up around the course, not a bad thing as it gives the course a bit more defense… bit seems our ropey golf swings are hard enough to deal with. It made finding a few wayward shots a bit of a challenge… yes, we shouldn’t be there anyway! Few rumblings in the clubhouse after about the greens not really being there yet. Fingers crossed they are on course for the summer. Club Champs weekend of 21st/22nd for the diaries.
Happy Birthday Graham
Graham’s birthday week (“month” according to him) started. His daughter made him a cake which he bought up to the club to share amongst the Swindle. Lovely cake enjoyed by all.
Notice the iced wee man on the top sharing an uncanny resemblance to the birthday boy.
We’re all off on an away day next week to Seaford Head for his birthday, organised by Jezza who’s fighting a dodgy back. Fingers crossed he’s feeling better, Graham plays well and we all have decent weather on the South Coast.
