Harry Grout Macve?
Saturday
I called it in the car park, decent sized Swindle so watch out for Mr Jaggs. A hefty swindle of 14 turned out on Saturday and Jaggsy was a popular candidate for the ca$$$h and so it proved. 36 won the day, just pipping Sean by one leaving him rueing a missed putt on the 18th.
Brian amd I saw off Wayne and Phil in our fourball – a pairing you would always consider gritty and determined, and it made the drinks after even sweeter. Was a cracking day, warm and the dew resulted in a hot muggy day.
Hole of the day likely to be Jim whose 2nd ended up in a tree short of the 16th. A Seve moment (not a steve) later and a pitch onto the green was followed by a good putt and a most unlikely par.

Jim’s photo of his ball in the tree to the left of the 16th green. Cue a Seve moment and a resulting par
Sunday
Another great Summer’s day and another decent turnout of 15 I think going out before the Trilogy Match. Ian smashed the day with 38pts pipping clubhouse leader Jaggsy on 34pts. Bryan H and I nipped Snashers and Scottie 3&1 in a top match out towards the end, Bryan nearly holing on the 17th when we were dormie2 for a gimme birdie before pureing his hybrid into the 18th to about 2feet (we won’t mention the putt).
In the first group of the Swindle, Sharon secured a place in the Swindle KO final beating Johnny Clements 4&3. Well done Sharon. Out at the end of the Swindle, Ian beat a hungover Dan Mason in their Byron Cup match (we defintely won’t mention putting off the 8th green nearly into the bunker Dan).
Surrey Hills News
If anyone is following the Mens Surrey Hills League, Reigate took a big (and most likely a final) step towards this year’s title with a very heavy win away at Surrey Downs 50.5 to 39.5. Sean may know better, but as far as I’m aware that is the biggest away win I’ve certainly heard of in playing in the league for several years. Impressive.
