August Bank Holiday Swindles

29 August, 2017 by Hew Leave a Comment

Saturday

With a home Surrey Hills match against Woldingham, a few out early in club matches and few ‘busy’ at work, only 10 of us on Saturday and the 3 crocks (RitchieBandit recovering wrist injury (no-jokes),  Jez’ cortazone wrist injection (no-jokes), Hew’s ankle from football (no-jokes)) were conveniently lobbed together at the back.

Weather was perfect for a hot, warm late August morning-early afternoon’s golf.  Barry, Mick, Mushi and Brian C seemed to have a great competitive 4ball match out first.  A very sheepish Mushi was at the recieving of some banter after missing a certain length putt on the 17th.  Simon C, Sean and Asif fought it out in 2nd group… wily ol Sean pocketing Simon’s mis count for a gimmie on the 18th.

Thanks to Dan’s Mason and TullyMonster we had new spanky pin and longest drivers to use.  The upcoming Champs Day in October, we’ll be asking for a very modest additional contribution to match fees to cover the cost of these new markers.  FYi, these are going to held behind the desk for future Swindles, Sean breaking out his engraving tool to mark them up.

Out last in the crocked-group, Ritchie and I saw some real ‘driver-love’ from Jez’ new M2 and he used it to great effect to win the back with a solid 21 pts and the overall with 37, pipping Asif by 1 I believe.  Well done Jez.

Sunday we had Carol’s Day (post being put up later).

Our new markers used this weekend – thanks to Dan’s Mason and Tully, and Sean’s pimping-up skills

Bank Holiday Monday

Wayne won… full stop.

Much as I’d like to leave it there, Tony and I being on the receiving of the Wayne (and Jaggsy) match, I have to grudingly admit the Wayne-inator was in top form.

Obviously very humble, quiet and reserved throughout (!$!£*@!!!), Wayne had a stormer with a massive 42points off a Swindle handicap of 11.  Coming back level par in think was a best for Wayne and 3 birdies in the round with some solid putting and some fantastic driving all came together for a great round.

Well done Wayne.
