Golf wasn’t very memorable (again) this weekend, so I’ll try and take some inspiration from mighty Arsenal winning on Saturday. Special thanks to Mr Loveless who despite taking young Mr Wheddon on his spare corporate ticket to Wembley, furnished me with the special match programme.
Playing in the Blue Medal on Saturday, with with the ominious Sunday forecast in mind, the day was bright and sunny. Junior Luke Carter took honours with a nett 66, but Jackson scooped lowest gross with a superb two under. “Proper golfer him” to quote Mr Macve.
Inbetween Jackson and Stu Massey, our own BackDoorJohnny pokes his head in for glory with a very steady round. Playing with John, his putter was on fire – a very in-form Mr Clements taking the holes apart with ease.
Overall scoring wasn’t great for the nice day but it was the first Blue comp of the year and the greens are seeing some great improvement after all the work being put into them in recent days. Roll on club champs.
Sheets are up for the Club Champs by the way – Graham A said he’d do sign ups, but check yourself to avoid missing out.
Sunday saw the weather come in and a few sore heads following the football… and Al Savs wetting-the-baby’s-head drinks at The Stoneleigh… in Stoneleigh.
Scoring itself was quite comparable to Saturday, the persistant drizzle and showers perhaps softening greens up a bit, but it wasn’t very pleasent to play in. Well done Sunday comp on getting through the day despite the rain..
Weather arriving on Wendesday it seems. Sun lotion at the ready… and we can expect lots more games in shorts which means Colin’s knees are out and about looking to impress. Glorious.
