Some impressive scoring over the weekend. Standard scratch of 30 and 31 on Saturday and Sunday with Swindles of over 20+ both days.
Course very playable but very soggy in places. Bunkers in play across the weekend despite some large puddles. Weather was pretty good with the Winter sun warming those in tee shirts and light jumpers on Sunday.
On Sunday, Jezza stormed into the Swindle matchplay knockout final with a 5&4 win over plucky Simon, whose special trousers did not put Jerry off some very solid play to take the victory. Dark horse our Mr Assig, who is now awaiting the Wells/Boney outcome, the Champion/Hogben matchup… who then play Mr Adams and then winner of whom I play to decide who takes on the Assig machine!
Wayne took most of Saturday’s monies with an impressive 36, Al Radar Gollampost and Backdoor Johnny shared Sunday’s spoils with 35.
Wayne unfortunately had a large audience for his tee shot off the first on Sunday. A lightly hungover Stevie got inside our Wayne’s head who then proceeded to top the ball and leave it 5 yards in front of himself and several yards behind the yellow tees.
Mr Backdoor found the inside of a tree on Sunday whilst Saturday saw our Mr Bone fight tooth and nail to hit more trees than a determined Mr Strong.
Comp next week, then a certain Ryder Cup match is only around the corner…
