Al Savs takes the 2014 Order of Merit

With the final putts of the weekend’s Medal being sank on Sunday, it was confirmed that Al Saville wins the overall club Order of Merit 2014.  A fantastic effort by “The Gun’s Of Sutton”.  Al’s golf has gone from strength to strength this year (again!) and his constant solid performances – as well as a few exceptional ones – has seen him make a steady and determined assault to the top of the table.  I played with Al on Saturday and along with Dean Feeeez, (Dean and I both had shockers) we enjoyed more of Al’s solid play seeing him take an unassailable lead to the Sunday’s comp.

I managed to sneak a third, holding on with my fingertips from Al Gollop after a few frustrating (and s0d-awful) rounds from me.  The immense Stu Massey storming into a clear second place over the weekend.  Cracking job Stu!

Swashbucklers featured all over the top10, with several more poking heads up just out side the top 10.  Al Savs takes the title, with me, Al G, Mr Graham “CC” Lovely, and Scottie Yule overbalancing the top of the table with Swashbucklers.  With Stevie Mac, Waynetta Nowak and Lee Feez adding support from the top20.

With most Swashbucklers having the first medal of the on the Sunday, we saw our own Denzil Hope (I’m sure you’ve “heard of him”… or just “heard him”) take the top spot.  Well done Denz.  Jezza “Guiness please” Assig fought for 3rd place with Jim, Al G and Scottie all up in the top 10.  More Swashbuckler success there.  (I’m not going to highlight the less than impressive performances from our Swindle in the Saturday comp!)

Entering a new golfing year

Whilst Al enjoys a year being ‘top of the tree’ and no doubt plans a defense of the title, May see’s the new golfing year commence.  I’ll put the 2014 fixtures on the calendar shortly when they are published.

Don’t forget the Ball on Saturday for those that can make it.

Well done Al, great achievement it will be nice to see your name on the board.
Much hasn’t been said about Huge’s score on Sat. It was an inspiration to Bryan and myself to get round in under Huge’s tally on Sunday. Despite the 6’s, 7’s 8’s and even an 11 we failed to reach Huge’s total. Right sided golf isn’t supposed to be -right in the bunker or right in the trees, or right off the green is it??

Good effort for the year everyone in the top 10. Wayne Nowak OOM 2015??

It was car crash golf on Saturday for me. My prep involved alcohol the night before (well it was Friday) and a lesson on Wednesday… and result is now p*sstake from Graham Adams.

      Doh!
